About KPMG International Advisory Services (IDAS)
International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) Africa is a business unit within KPMG headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya and within the Southern Africa KPMG Southern Africa and West Africa hubs. IDAS works with clients to address challenges faced by the global development community; working with public sector entities (national and local governments), bilateral and multilateral development agencies, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), philanthropic foundations, the private sector and other entities on a variety of projects.
IDAS Africa focusses on the following broad sectors – Climate, renewable energy and resilience; Agribusiness; Youth, MSMEs and Entrepreneurship; Innovative and Inclusive finance; Trade and Investment; Health; Social Sectors and Inclusion and Governance and PFM.
KPMG is seeking experienced specialists in the following areas of expertise to support in the overall delivery and operations of anticipated Third-Party Monitoring Services in Ethiopia, Kenya & Somalia. Pre-requisite qualifications, skills and experience are indicated under each role.
Program manager (2 positions)
- Advanced degree (Master’s and above) in Business Management, Project Management, Public administration, Monitoring & Evaluation, Construction/contract management or other relevant field.
- A total of ten (10) years of senior level management experience relevant to the contract subject matter.
- Previous experience managing staff on monitoring programs.
- Designing and conducting monitoring programs.
- Previous field experience in the country applied for and managing sub-contractors in the country is essential.
Senior Social Specialist (3 positions - one for each of the countries above)
- Advanced degree in social sciences, such as sociology/rural development/anthropology/or any other such relevant discipline with relevant experience on the field of social development.
- At least 10 years of work experience in social assessment, in particular: (i) prior experience either in Bank/IFI financed project and/or large infrastructure projects; (ii) Knowledge of institutional arrangements and social safeguard issues; (iii) Knowledge of World Bank Safeguards Policies/ESF.
- Proficient in PC-based applications such as MS Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, data management and excellent in Web research and navigation tools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Somali or Amharic
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to function efficiently and collaboratively in a group and in multicultural team environment
Senior GBV Specialist (3 positions - one for each of the countries above)
- A university degree in Gender issues with training in GBV prevention and response.
- 8 years of practical experience in GBV prevention in Somalia.
- Strong knowledge of SEAH prevention and response measures including awareness raising, behavioural change communication, code of conducts and complaints mechanism and survivor sensitive approaches in managing of SEAH complaints.
- Strong knowledge of contextual and institutional arrangements on SEAH prevention and response in Somalia.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Somali or Amharic
- Strong knowledge of World Bank Environmental Safeguards Policies and the World Bank Group SEAH Guidelines.
Senior Environmental Specialist (3 positions - one for each of the countries above)
- A university degree in Environmental Science, Environmental planning and management or engineering with relevant experience on the field of environment.
- At least 10 years of practical experience in environmental safeguard in particular:
i. Prior experience in World Bank/IFI financed project and/or large infrastructure projects
ii. Knowledge of institutional arrangements and environmental safeguards issues
iii.Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety.
iv.Strong knowledge of World Bank Environmental Safeguards Policies and the World Bank Group Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Somali or Amharic
- Demonstrated ability to work in and travel within the country applied for.
IT Specialist /Data Analyst (3 positions - one for each of the countries above)
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field including economics, development studies, social sciences, or statistics etc.
- At least 5 years’ experience with previous monitoring, evaluation, field surveys and data management and analysis.
- Proficient in computer applications.
- Knowledge of KoBo Toolbox is desired.
Agriculture/Livestock Specialist – Somalia only
- A university degree in agriculture.
- 10 years of practical experience in agriculture.
- Fluency in Somali, working knowledge of English.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and travel within Somali.
- Good understanding of technical specifications in respective field.
GIS/Remote sensing specialist – Somalia only
- A university degree in IT or related qualification
- At least 3 years of practical experience in application of GIS
- Fluency in Somali, working knowledge of English.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and travel within Somalia.
- Good understanding of technical specifications in respective field.
