The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a Program Manager for Yemen Projects for a one-year, renewable appointment in its Egypt Office. The Program Manager will focus on the Yemen portfolio to help us keep organized and take over some of the project management workload. The position is based at IFPRI’s Egypt office located in Cairo.
The incumbent will work under the hybrid remote/ in-person supervision of an IFPRI senior researcher but will be employed directly by IFPRI’s host in Egypt, the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Area (ICARDA). The employer of record will be ICARDA and employment policies, compensation, and benefits of ICARDA will apply to this position. Interested applicants must have work authorization to work in Egypt.
Specific Duties include but are not limited to:
- Managing reporting requirements for large projects
- Keep track of contracts and invoicing processes for consultants
- Provide support with logistics for travel and meetings taking place in Cairo
- Manage a database of contacts in the various Yemeni organizations involved.
- Support in the logistical aspects of preparing and organizing project proposals.
- Serve as the primary contact person for consultants regarding IFPRI policies and procedures.
- Contribute to proposal development.
- Support with Arabic/English translation as needed for assisting in communication.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Master’s degree in the research discipline or business management plus three years of relevant professional experience following the degree.
- Extensive organizational and communications skills
- Demonstrated fluency in written and spoken English and formal Arabic.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented multi-cultural environment.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task as needed, consistently meet deadlines and manage time well.
- Demonstrated professional level of attention to detail and accuracy of work.
- Ability to work independently and with initiative.
- Interest and motivation for supporting research on development.
- Prior project management experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Project Management, Administration or closely related fields
- Willingness to travel.
- Familiarity with Yemen
