Description

Responsible for all farm management operations, safety, seasonal staff to enable smooth functioning of the research station. This includes resource planning, farm management, safety and quality assurance activities. Responsible for nursery activities such as field preparation, planting, spraying, harvesting and irrigation management for quality seed returns with a focus on operational excellence.

Responsibilities

// Driving facility / farm maintenance to ensure efficient site operations

// Leading efforts of farm operational planning and implementation of strategy for supporting the activities of the Seed Production team.

// Support process standardization, adoption of best practices and implementation of process improvement measures across research stations

// Develop innovative ways to increase nursery quality and data; and work within software tools to manage fields and incorporate new systems into the nursery program.

// Engage with EMEA region and Global Breeding teams to support initiatives and global strategies.

// Management of seasonal staff to deliver site goals in seed production and data delivery.

// Manage farm related activities such as field preparation, irrigation, planting & harvesting, housekeeping, and support building maintenance, where required.

// Collaborating with Local and regional SP teams to ensure quality seed production and on time delivery to all stakeholders.

// Full support of all farm related safety programs to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and contractors.

// Supervision and training of farm related technicians and seasonal employees.

// Perform timely and accurate data collection for all farm operations to ensure proper records are kept for compliance and reporting.

// Personal development through on-the-job learning and experiences that include networking and engaging with other team members across the globe.

Qualifications

// BSc Agriculture or related degree with at least 5 years relevant experience.

// Knowledge of crop production, farm practices, farm equipment maintenance and operation.

// Knowledge and experience of nursery production.

// Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Windows)

// Excellent leadership and people skills, effective verbal and written communication, and ability to thrive in a team-based work environment.

// A proven history of developing people and teams, through effective change management skills and developing team culture.

// Highly self-motivated, innovative and have a proven project management record.

// Ability to work independently as well as in a team-based environment.

// Strong desire for personal development and professional growth at Bayer.
