Position Summary
The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT is seeking to recruit a Project Financial Analysis and Support (PLANS) consultant.
The consultant will be responsible for providing financial support to the research staff during the project management lifecycle and ensure compliance with donor requirements and internal policies and procedures during the proposal stage, the implementation process, and the closeout steps. The PLANS Consultant has the responsibility of providing timely and efficient support to the PLANS decentralization and integration processes in the region.
- Manage a portfolio of grants in relation to budget proposal preparation, grant financial monitoring and grant financial reporting.
- Work closely with the PLANS unit ensuring accurate financial information and update data to be included in the Institutional Financial Reports and the budget information related to Research.
- Ensure compliance with Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT full cost recovery methodology, donor rules, and timely submission of financial information to the HUB.
- Support Project Financial External Audits ensuring the timely submission of Audit information, compliance with audit requirements and timely implementation of audit recommendations.
- Support the review of partners’ budgets and financial reports, including the reporting terms and conditions on LOAs ensuring compliance with donor rules accompanied by GMU.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reports, following donor requirements, and internal guidelines for different audiences.
- Support Project Leaders on project proposals, the financial status of their respective projects, cash requirements, funds availability, and any other financial indicator.
- Review project expense recording and ensure compliance to policy, procedures and donor requirements.
- University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Accounting/project management certification desired.
- Strong proficiency of the English language, both written and spoken.
- At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in a closely related field gained in an international organization including budgeting, accounting guidelines and financial management of projects.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and budgeting practices and procedures relevant to not-for profit organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with other national and cultural backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong client service orientation.
- High level of computer skills, ability to handle complex financial and budgeting systems including excellent knowledge of Excel and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of IFRS.
