Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and coordination on the SASAS project to ensure that all project activities and deliverables are on schedule. This includes coordinating work plans, annual planning and review meetings, and progress monitoring and reporting.
- Coordinate partner engagements on technical matters including concept note development and review, activity implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Lead the design and implementation of a learning agenda on agricultural development with a difference, including but not limited to assessing the effectiveness of demand creation and inclusive, gender aware approaches.
- Coordinate all learning activities in the project in close liaison with other Scientists/leads.
- Coordinate and lead periodic technical reports to donors.
- Serve as project liaison to outside partners on technical aspects, including updates to donors, government, and stakeholders.
- Identify technical areas that need additional skills, engage, and supervise consultants as need arises and supervise other technical staff on the project.
- Lead and coordinate periodic reporting to donors, high-quality technical reports on project impacts.
- Lead the collection and dissemination of high-quality agricultural productivity and innovations tracking data.
- Contribute to the positioning of CIMMYT as a thought leader in debate related to agricultural delivery with a difference for sustainable development.
- Any other duties as determined by project lead for SASAS.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Development, and any relevant field.
- 5 or more years of experience in international agriculture development research, preferably involving coordination and leadership.
- Proven record of working in Arabic speaking regions on agricultural development and sustainable agrifood systems.
- At least 5 years in research project management or a related role, including publications, donor relations, reporting and fund raising.
- Core experience:
- Expert knowledge of Seeds, Soil management, livestock and/or Agronomic Production Systems
- Long-term experience working with research organizations, NGOs or private sector
- Evidence of policy support and high-level government engagement in agricultural development
- The selected candidate should exhibit the following competencies: Team Leadership, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, Critical Thinking, Teamwork, and Communication.
